Know Jesus and share him with others.

What a joy to have been your teacher these last twenty weeks! Thank you for entrusting me with your time and attention as you study God’s word and learn how to apply the truth of Scripture to your daily lives.

The heroes of faith we studied imparted critical words of wisdom that were invaluable to believers in the first century and are equally as valuable for us today:

  • Jesus’ final words of instruction in Matthew 24 and 25 tell us how we should live while we wait for his return: 
    • ready 
    • committed to the truth of the Gospel
    • eager to share it with others
  • The prophet Micah's words are truth for believers today:
    • walk humbly with the Lord, love mercy, and live justly 
    • be encouraged because we worship a God who is compassionate and forgives us when we repent
    • be assured that God will always preserve a faithful remnant of believers to ensure his word remains pure - God’s word will last forever.
  • James’ final words of encouragement to a discouraged and persecuted group of believers become a call to action for us today as we live in an increasingly intolerant culture: 
    • stand firm in the faith with patience and joy because of the eternal hope we have in Christ Jesus 
    • choose the wisdom of God as your spiritual GPDS versus the foolishness of the so your witness glorifies God and fulfills his purpose
  • Paul’s last words of instruction to his protégé in the faith spur us on to finish the race well:
    • remain passionate for Christ
    • remain firm in sound doctrine
    • continue the mission of sharing the gospel message of Christ in the world
  • And finally, the apostle John’s letter to the churches he loved becomes a reminder for our own hearts: 
    • be careful 
    • be strong
    • be hopeful because we can live this earthly life with the confidence of an eternity in heaven

Know Jesus and share him with others.

That one simple sentence sums up the entire study of Until the Whole World Hears, and it should also be the goal for each of us as we take what we have learned into our spheres of influence so God can use us to impact the culture. As my husband Jim said in a recent sermon, “If we don’t change the world, then the world will change us.”
